Moving Regulations – Portugal

Australians may enter Portugal without visa for stays of a maximum of ninety days per period of six months on presentation of a valid passport. For stays exceeding that duration or for the purpose of paid employment or studies, you are required to contact the Embassy or the Consulates of Portugal in Australia for further information.

Note that the Portuguese ID card is accepted in Portugal and other EU countries as a valid entry document. You can apply for it in the "Serviços de Identificação Civil" or "Conservatórias do Registo Civil" when in Portugal or to the Portuguese Consulate in Australia. There is no minimum age to apply for the Portuguese ID card, as long as the birth has been registered. For applying it is necessary to have updated birth certificate and 2 identical colour photos with the dimensions of 32 by 32 mm, taken less than a year ago.te of Residence

For the purpose of claiming the quality of resident a person has to live in a Country at least for total of 24 months.
