In order to visit and stay in Indonesia you have to obtain a visa prior to your departure to the country. A visa is a permit, which will be attached to your passport and is issued by the Embassy or Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia, providing that you meet the application requirements.
The most long-stay visa is temporary stay visa. It is valid for a maximum stay of 1 year. Then it may be extended in Indonesia. It is granted upon the authorization of the Directorate General of Immigration in Jakarta.
The temporary stay visa is both for working and non-working purposes; such as foreign investment, family reunion, retirement and repatriation.
Requirements for this type of visa are the following: • Passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the date of entry. • Application form must be completed in duplicate with two passport size photos. • A complete and updated Curriculum Vitae. • A copy of the airline ticket/itinerary from the travel agent. • An Indonesian immigration authorization letter is required. • Visa fee has to be made in money order or company cheque payable to the Indonesian Embassy. • Payment of the visa administration fee does not guarantee that the application will be successful. • For those who want to apply to the Indonesian Embassy in Canberra using mail, please send all of the documents including the passport and return-paid envelope (registered post/express post) to the address: INDONESIAN EMBASSY, ATTN: VISA SECTION, 8 DARWIN AVENUE YARRALUMLA, ACT 2600.
Those who are joining their spouse or parent who are Indonesian citizens living in Indonesia or foreign citizens living in Indonesia holding Temporary Stay Permits must submit a copy of their Marriage Certificate and/or their Birth Certificate.
Individuals wishing to work in a foreign investment or domestic investment venture have to furnish a letter of recommendation from a relevant department, the Department of Manpower and Transmigration, the Investment Coordinating Board, and a copy of the letter of agreement to employ foreign labour.
People conducting activities in Religious Mission, Social Fields, Research, Education, must enclose the original and a copy of a recommendation letter from the institution or specific department that has assigned them. |
