Moving Regulations - Chile

There are certain regulations for bringing your household goods and personal belongings into Chile.

Your household items and/or work equipment qualify for the exemptions if they fulfill the following conditions:
• The items came from the country of residence.
• They are of used condition.
• They were purchased before entering the country.
• They are non-commercial, intended to fulfill the interested person and his family’s needs.
• Packages shall be consigned to the owner’s name on the manifest and/or shipping document.
• Household items shall be brought by the person when he enters the country or up to 120 days before or after such moment.
• These articles can not be purchased at National Free Zones.

At time of customs clearance individuals must be in country. They may import used household goods up to US$ 5000 free of duties and taxes. It is permitted to import more than the mentioned amount, but with additional payment about 26 %. A person must be in Chile before the shipment's arrivals. They have to arrive not more than within 120 days from person’s arrival in the country.
