Moving Regulations - Canada

If you are not a relative of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident holder (restricted to mother, father or sisters and brothers) or the spouse of a Canadian Citizen or the Child under the age of 21 years of a Canadian citizen or Permanent Residence holder, the following information is for you. It is quite possible to relocate to Canada for skilled workers and professionals. They are people who are chosen based on their ability to become economically established in Canada as permanent residents. Your application will be reviewed in three steps. First of all, it must be eligible. If your application is eligible for processing, you must also meet the minimum requirements to qualify as a skilled worker. In the case if you meet all requirements, then your application will be processed according to the six selection factors in the skilled worker points grid. They are the following:
• your age
• your education
• your work experience
• your abilities in Canada’s two official languages - English and/or French
• your adaptability
• whether you have arranged employment in Canada.

Moreover, you must prove that you have enough money to provide for you and your family after arriving in Canada.

If you apply to immigrate to Canada as a skilled worker, follow these steps:
1. Obtain and print the correct application package. The application package includes the all the forms you need to fill out and instruction guide.
2. Complete your application. Fill out and sign the forms. Answer all questions truthfully, completely and carefully. You must go through medical, background and criminal checks.
3. Calculate your fees. The processing fee for you and your dependants who will move with you to Canada must be submitted. Information on how to pay your processing fee is included in the instruction guide.
4. Check your application. Make certain that your application and all forms are completed and signed, your processing fee and any other required documents are included.
5. Submit your application. Please, note that you have to submit your skilled worker application to the Centralized Intake Office and not to the visa office responsible for your country of nationality or residence.

After arriving in Canada you must let an inspector see the such documents:
• Your valid permanent resident visa and your Confirmation of Permanent Residence.
• Your valid passport. It must be regular and private. Note that it is forbidden to immigrate to Canada with a diplomatic, public affairs or government service passport.
• Evidence that you have sufficient money to support yourself and your dependants after arriving in Canada.
Besides, the officer will ask you a few questions in order to be sure you meet the requirements to immigrate to Canada. This should only take a few minutes. The questions will be similar to those you were answered on your Application for Permanent Residence in Canada.
