Moving Regulations - Brazil
There are several ways to relocate to Brazil from Australia for permanent living. Visa is necessary for all of them. The most common are permanent Visa and permanent Visa for managers, administrators or directors.
Transfer of residence following retirement

Australians who wish to retire in Brazil need this type of Visa. Their regular monthly income should be of at least US$ 2000 (two thousand US dollars). Based on this level of income, the applicant will be allowed to take two dependants. First entry into Brazil must be made within 90 days from the date the Visa is issued.

The following documents are required:
• Original Passport valid for a minimum of 6 months.
• Three recent professional passport size photos in front view. Other photos are not accepted.
• Photocopy of the identifying pages of the passport authenticated by the Embassy.
• Marriage certificate or birth certificate (whichever is applicable), legalized by the Embassy.
• Three Visas Applications forms.
• Declaration confirming the retirement of the applicant, informing the monthly amount paid as a pension.
• If the pension provider is a private one, the signature on the declaration has to be witnessed by a Notary Public, prior to being legalized by this Embassy.
• Legalized by this Embassy police clearance (full fingerprint) of the applicant.
• Valid international vaccination certificate for children aged between 3 months and 6 years. A notarized doctor's certificate must be submitted in the case if for any reason a kid cannot be inoculated.
• Proof that the applicant has been living for the past twelve months in the area of jurisdiction of the Embassy in Australia: (Australian Capital Territory, Western Australia, Victoria, South Australia, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu and Tasmania). A driver's license or telephone, electricity or water bill is sufficient.

Permanent visa for managers, administrators or directors

This kind of visa may be granted to those who plan to reside permanently in Brazil, who are dependants of a Brazilian citizen or foreign permanent resident in Brazil.

Its application and the relevant documents must be lodged in Brazil by interested institution. If the application is approved, the Embassy will be authorized to issue the visa, provided that the applicant pays the appropriate consular fees and meets the consular requirements. According to instructions of Brazilian Ministry of External Relations additional documentation may be required.

All documents have to be translated into Portuguese by an accredited translator and must have the translator's signature recognised by Brazilian Embassy.

The following documents are required for visa application:
• Original Passport valid for a minimum of 6 months.
• 2 completed and signed Visas Applications forms.
• 2 passport size photos in front view. All other photos are not accepted.
• Received by the Embassy from the Brazilian Ministry of External Relations prior authorization to grant the visa. Authorizations expire within 6 months from the date of issuance.
• Valid international vaccination certificate for children aged between 3 months and 6 years.
It is permitted to move into Brazil only one sea shipment and one air shipment consisting of articles for domestic use, tools, used furniture, machines, instruments and other items necessary for professional use. Individuals with permanent or temporary visas need to bring a detailed inventory which includes estimated value of each item and shows any brand names and serial numbers. All items not listed on the inventory are subject to extremely high import duties and taxes. Accompanying baggage of visa bearers is limited to personal belongings (such as clothing, toiletries and other strictly personal items), books, leaflets and periodicals, newly purchased foreign goods worth a total of US$ 500.

Permanent visa bearers moving to Brazil may include into their unaccompanied baggage used and new, personal, professional and household effects, film and photo equipment, personal computers, and bulky items intended only for personal use of immigrant and family. Customs require a list of the contents of unaccompanied baggage, specified by quantity, price of article and type (model, brand and year of manufacture).
