Moving Regulations - Belize

In order to get permanent residency you have to live in Belize for one year. For this you should enter the country on a tourist visa, apply for residency and then renew your tourist visa every 30 to 90 days until residency is granted.

You should present to the Immigration and Nationality Department filled application form, 2 passport photos (the backs of which are to be signed by you and a Justice of Peace), current police and medical records and recent personal bank statements.

In the case if you want to acquire nationality status, you must have a permanent residence and be a legal resident for a minimum 5 years. For more information please contact the Immigration and Nationality Department of Belize.

It is suggested to be present during customs examination. Don’t forget that except used personal items (clothing and toilet articles) all items are dutied. It may be paid on an assessed value at the Customs Officer's discretion. Antiques only with a certificate of authenticity from an authorized dealer or expert may be transported.
